Modern advertising offers a large number of different remedies for rapid weight loss. Sometimes it is difficult to decide for oneself which remedy to choose and whether to choose it at all. In the Holistic System of Weight Loss, Wellness and Rejuvenation, we recommend abstaining from the use of medications when losing weight altogether.

But we understand that if it is a matter of losing weight quickly, you will still want to use these remedies because some of them, help you lose weight.
But when you’re interested in the price of the product, expressed in monetary terms, and the benefits, it’s not unreasonable to ask about the harm that you can cause yourself. That is, in addition to the money you will have to give for the lost kilograms. After that, you can conclude whether it is worth it, and to choose something less harmful for you.
In order to be aware of this choice, you need to understand what lies behind the beautiful, miraculous and “one hundred percent safe” properties of those drugs that are offered by advertising.

All means for weight loss can be classified into groups, according to the mechanism of action, effectiveness and side effects. This is very important because side effects are common to all weight loss drugs.

Hence, it is necessary to think seriously before applying such a responsible decision for health – to take the drug in order to enhance the effect of the whole weight loss program. Let’s especially emphasize – to enhance the effect, and not to make the main bet on the drugs.

One of the basic rules, which concerns all means and methods for weight loss is the following:

If a diet, dietary supplement, pill or any other remedy by itself produces a weight loss effect greater than 200 grams per day (averaged over two weeks) – it is fatally detrimental.

Let’s face it, there are no such remedies yet. Of course, this figure is referring to the consumption of fat, not the loss of water or the usual colon cleansing. But harmful and simply useless means – enough.

So, we do a review of weight loss remedies. Let’s start with the drugs themselves.

MEDICINES

1. Drugs that reduce food intake (reduce appetite). They can act directly on the brain. (For example, amphetamine or sibutramine). Or peripherally acting drugs. These include analogs of glucose and its derivatives. They are supposed to create a feeling of fullness, but they have no nutritional value.
More drugs that reduce appetite: phepranon (0.025 g 2-3 times a day for 0.5-1 hour before a meal, for 1.5 – 2.5 months) or Mazindol (description below), phepranon (description below), Desopimon (description below).

All of these remedies contain psychotropic drugs to one degree or another. The most common are ephedrine and its derivatives and amphetamines. And they are narcotic substances.
All sorts of appetite-reducing lollipops, taffy substitutes for food, and other similar means are more benign, but still contain phenolpropanolamine, a substance that reduces appetite, but acts on the nervous and cardiovascular system.

2. Drugs that affect metabolism. They reduce the absorption of food from the intestine orlistat, or xenical (see below for a description). They significantly reduce the absorption of fat. Or they change the metabolism of tissues and organs. Primarily these are hormones that affect fat metabolism, such as testosterone and somatotropic hormone. Such drugs also include Shapey (see description below).

3. Drugs that increase energy intake: thyroid hormones, adrenaline and its analogs.

Some time ago there were more weight-loss drugs, but, due to the increased content of psychotropic drugs such as amphetamines in many of them, and the frequent severe effects on the mental state of patients, many are prohibited for distribution. Currently, the drugs that the doctor has the right to prescribe, approved by the Ministry of Health and approved for use in Russia, are two drugs – xenical (Orlistat) (see below for a detailed description of Orlistat), which affects the metabolism as we said above and meridia (sibutramine), which belongs to the first group, acting directly on the brain and reducing the appetite. They are prescribed by an endocrinologist to patients diagnosed with obesity.

In order for you to be prescribed such a drug, you need to be at least 30 kg overweight or some other factors that contribute to weight gain (heredity, taking hormonal medications). In fact, meridia is a hormonal drug that increases blood levels of serotonin, the “pleasure hormone” and thanks to this satiety comes faster.

Xenical does not allow fat to break down in the intestine, so in addition to weight loss, lowers blood cholesterol levels, and thus improves the condition of patients with coronary artery disease, hypertension, atherosclerosis.
The course of treatment is usually 4-8 weeks, the maximum course – 3 months. After cancellation of treatment a diet is necessary, otherwise the weight comes back
Side effects include high blood sugar, high blood pressure, anxiety, and sleep disturbances.

A new drug, gAcrp30, is expected to hit the market, but it is still being tested. This is a hormonal drug, which acts on the principle of replacement therapy, i.e., similar to insulin – it must be taken continuously. It is unlikely that it will solve all problems. The drug blocks the conversion of fatty acids into fat – it prevents the formation of fat cells. Nothing is yet known about side effects.

There are ideas and developments to create drugs based on the cactus goudia, according to Indian recipes.
There is constant talk about finding a gene that regulates metabolism and the formation of fat reserves in the body. No one knows when there will be developments, but genetic engineering is an even more obscure field than hormone therapy, so we should expect that there is still a long way to go before an effective and reasonably safe drug is available.

The diet patch – unfortunately, it acts as a placebo effect, that is, only psychologically. The microdoses of iodine that it releases into the skin should help the thyroid gland regulate metabolism. But if we assume that not everyone is overweight due to iodine deficiency, then this iodine must still be assimilated by the body and reach the thyroid gland – you may as well take iodine preparations internally. By the way, it’s not a bad idea – to scan the thyroid gland and in case of insufficiency of the thyroid gland to take appropriate medications. Many people are overweight due to the activity of the thyroid gland.
Thai pills.

Is it a medicine, or a remedy based on herbs – you decide for yourself. Many varieties of these pills, which are created supposedly in some hospital named after some saint, in the jungle of the rainforest, the secret knowledge of Thai healers…do you recognize the style? Letters of happiness, MMM, and so on.

What’s really going on? After the flood of these pills and the complaints of people who suffered from them (dry mouth, headaches, complete digestive distress – understandably, the patients became thin while doing so – see the warning at the beginning of the chapter) led to an investigation, the following came to light.

Studies related to diet pills were conducted in Taiwan in clinics, and only one name is approved for distribution in Taiwan. Moreover, Thai physicians make no secret of the fact that this is an experimental drug, which, although herbal, is quite harsh. It acts like chemotherapy drugs, which are harmful to the body, and weight loss is achieved by your body’s fight for survival. At the same time fat cells are consumed. Not only that, the Thai pills contain amphetamines, which are psychotropic substances that are absolutely contraindicated for most people, especially if you have any heart or liver disorders.

From the point of view of expediency, those drugs that have been discontinued in Russia because they contain psychotropic components are much more effective and safer. So what is there to pay for?

All other drugs, in fact, are supplements. What are they and what is the point of them?

HERBS, GATHERINGS, DIURETICS AND LAXATIVES.

About the diuretic effect and the fact that it has nothing to do with weight loss, everyone knows. In addition to tried-and-true herbs like diuretic, laxative gatherings based on herbs such as cassia (senna, alexandria leaf), rhubarb, buckthorn and many others, there are also laxative and diuretic “deep cleaning teas”, which often differ only in name.

If you have edema or constipation, or if you intend to resort to starvation, the use of these remedies is justified. Most of these teas are relatively harmless, but you should not expect much weight loss effect from them. The purification of the intestine, elimination of toxins, normalization of sleep, improvement of general well-being – this, in general, is not bad. But a normal person understands that prolonged and constant colon cleansing is harmful, because you can permanently disrupt its microflora, as well as razregulate all absorption mechanisms.

Even worse is another thing – sometimes, in order to enhance the effect, in such gatherings are added pharmacological agents. This can harm those with diseased kidneys and liver, cause nausea and intestinal cramps. This has been complained about by many who have taken such gatherings. Perhaps you should pay attention to the fact that allergic reactions and individual intolerance – this is something to be wary of in the case of taking any substance that you have not previously taken.
Note that none of the therapeutic teas have been officially recommended. Warn and that it is possible to substitute and counterfeit – not so rare, unfortunately, the phenomenon. Try not to buy such products from hand, and if you buy them in a stall or pharmacy, ask for a certificate and read it, do not be gullible and do not let yourself be fooled.
The widespread advertising of hellebore, which the law enforcement agencies cannot handle in any way, is a dangerous profanity. One thing can be said about its principle of action. It is a potent poisonous substance. Of course, you will lose weight, while your body is fighting the poisoning. There is no evidence that it has any effect on weight loss, or on energy metabolism. But it is known that it is detrimental to the heart, blood vessels and nervous system. In addition, it is poorly excreted from the body, and therefore accumulates.

Moroznik Chinese is used in Bulgaria by folk healers as an external remedy for pustular diseases, dandruff, as an antiseptic, that is, as a means of affecting living organisms. And all the recipes indicate that it is a poison.
One can understand people who use it as a last resort to cure cancer, psoriasis, or other disease when official medicine doesn’t help. But the rest of us have more to lose than extra pounds!

One last thing, for those who don’t know. Hellebore is included in the Red Book, officially classified as a poison, and cannot be sold legally in any pharmacy. If you are even shown a certificate – do not believe it.

SUBSTANCES THAT SWELL UP IN THE GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT

When we include in our diet foods that have a lot of vegetable fiber, it not only reduces the caloric content of the diet. Plant fiber swells and creates the impression of fullness. This property is used in many preparations for weight loss. As a rule, in addition to fiber, such preparations contain complexes of vitamins, trace elements and enzymes. It is better when the fiber – natural, not synthetic origin.

The preparation MCC (microcrystalline cellulose). Its synonyms are Ankir B and Internal Medicine Wiper. It is produced from plant fibers – cellulose and bran. It is taken half an hour before a meal and washed down with plenty of water. Taking a small amount of food afterwards is necessary to saturate the body with flavor. The disadvantage of the drug is that it must be taken in large quantities.

However, there are better preparations, such as Becunis, which is made from plantain seeds. It is better tolerated by the intestines and stomach and even has some therapeutic effects.

Cocktail preparations – Doctor Slim, which not so long ago enjoyed great popularity, and similar – can also be used as a means to lose weight, but not everyone likes the taste of these cocktails, and so many prefer pills.

Remember that all these preparations are just cheating the body. When you stop taking them, there is a risk of gaining weight again, because the stomach will demand the same amount of food. With long-term use of these drugs their effectiveness decreases gradually, as the body readjusts, switching to a more economical mode. In addition, there may be allergic reactions and intestinal disorders.
